1912 - 1919

On 20 April 1912 the QCOBA was instituted in Johannesburg, due very largely to the efforts of WEA Legmann.

The first meeting, held at the Grand National Hotel, gave as its purpose, ‘the fostering of good relations between the school and its Old Boys and with the interests of the former always at heart'.

The outbreak of the war in 1914 put paid to this body, but it had demonstrated that the central body of such an association should be at or near the school itself, ensuring a constant supply of new members and receiving the stimulation that proximity to the school ensured.
