The Stor-Age Old Boys' Tens Annual Tournament takes place in Joburg. Initiated by our Foundation Branch of the QCOBA, some of the funds raised are used to support Education around South Africa. Read about all their beneficiaries. Lucky for us, Queen's College is one of the recipients of funds from the OBX.
1. The Mariana Malherbe bursary of R 12 000.00 was awarded to an all-rounder from the Dordrecht region.
2. The balance of the funds, R 30 408.00, was donated to the Queen’s College Outreach Programme.
The OBX 2017 event raised an amount of R 85 000.00 for Queen’s College for the 2018 year with bursaries and funds being awarded as follows:
1. The Mariana Malherbe Bursary of R 15 000.00 was re-awarded to the same all-rounder from the Dordrecht region.
2. An OBX Bursary of R 33 600.00 was awarded to a deserving pupil to move into Connaught Hostel to complete his Matric year in hostel. This proved to be a great award and the pupil benefited from his stay in hostel.
3. The balance of the funds, R 36 400.00, was donated to the Queen’s College Outreach Programme.
The OBX 2018 was once again a very successful event, which raised an amount of R 102 000.00 for Queen’s College for the 2019 year with bursaries and funds being awarded as follows:
1. The Mariana Malherbe Bursary of R 20 000.00 has been awarded to an all-rounder from the Dordrecht region.
2. An OBX Bursary of R 49 000.00 has been awarded to a deserving pupil to move into Connaught Hostel to complete his Matric year in hostel.
3. The balance of the funds, R 33 000.00, will be donated to a project at Queen’s College. The Barbarians team as well as the Skunks team won their division and thus this R 33 000.00 has been secured for Queen’s College. Well done to all players, managers and event co-ordinators on another successful OBX.
A very big thank you must go out to Marcel Malherbe (2003) and his team for making this event happen each year. We at Queen’s College salute them for their extraordinary efforts. NGONYAMA!
