Current Headmaster

Janse van der Ryst (2018 - current)

Mr van der Ryst matriculated from DF Malan High School and obtained a BA degree in 1987 from Stellenbosch University; and BA Honours from Nelson Mandela University in 1989.

After qualifying, Mr van der Rysttaught History and Physical Education at Brackenfell High School. He has also taught at Paarl Boys' High School, Duineveld High School and in 2015 he was appointed as Deputy Headmaster at Jeppe High School for Boys.

Whilst at University, Mr van der Ryst captained the Maties U20 Rugby side. He coached the Griqua Craven Week team for many years, and in 2010 he was the SA Schools' Rugby coach. He was also an avid Cricket player, having represented Western Province at U19, and Eastern Province at U23 levels. He also coached this sport at Provincial level.

Mr van der Rystis married to Jakobie, a kindergarten teacher. They have three children. Their daughter, Frances, is a 3rd year student at the University of Pretoria; eldest son, Johan, will be commencing his studies as a Graphic Design student at Nelson Mandela University at the beginning of next year; and youngest son, Janse Jnr, will be joining the 2018 Grade 10 class at Queen's College.
