Drama

The Drama Society, contributes to the cultural aspect of the Queenians education. The Interhouse Plays, and other productions allow the boys to express themselves in a dramatic field. Boys are also afforded the opportunity to participate in Eisteddfods, and various other festivals. An effort is also made to enable the boys to see any worthwhile productions in the area and to participate wherever possible. 

CRITERIA FOR AWARDS

DRAMA and FILM (Technical Crew included)

Boys wishing to apply for awards must:

  • Be an active member of the society.
  • Have participated in at least one Eisteddfod and in two drama productions.
  • They can include Grade 8 plays / interhouse plays / variety concert / major school productions.
  • Points will be awarded for participation / parts in a play / production / direction / writing / stage set / backstage at the discretion and recommendation of the teacher in charge.
  • Awards in competition and the writing of Drama exams will also gain points.
  • Points are the MINIMUM requirements to be considered for an awards

Eisteddfod points: A & above (3), B & above (2), Participation (1)

Participation in productions

  • Major roles: Per performance 2 points
  • Minor roles: Per performance 1 point
  • Production / direction: Per performance 2 points
  • Writing of play / script: 2 points
  • Stage set: 2 points
  • Backstage: 2 points

Drama Exams: pass (3), merit (4), distinction (5)
Awards : Best Actor: (Provincial) 4 points
Best Supporting Actor: (Provincial) 3 points
Any National award / recognition 5 points
Pointsmustbe achieved in Drama Or Film productionsandEisteddfods.

Boys wishing to apply for awards must:

  • Be an active member of the Drama society .
  • Have assisted in at least one Eisteddfod and in two dramatic productions.
  • They can include Grade 8 plays / interhouse plays / variety concert / major school productions.
  • Service during sporting events or any other school functions will be taken into account.
  • Points will be awarded for participation in the following positions:
  • Director / Assistant Director/Stage Manager / Assistant Stage Manager
  • Wardrobe Manager / Property Manager / Business Manager /Press agent and Graphic designer /
  • Make-up Manager / Scene Painter /Back Stage crew Lighting Electrician / Sound technician
  • Points will be awarded as follows: Active member of Society (2) Participation (2)
  • Per performance (minor service) (1) (backstage and all extra helpers)
  • Per performance (major service) (2) points (Directors / Managers)

Technical Crews:

  • Active membership
  • 80% attendance
  • Must score a minimum of 10 points according to the above criteria

Half-Colours

  • All boys are eligible for this award.
  • Active membership
  • 80% attendance
  • Must score a minimum of 20 points according to the above criteria

Colours

  • NOTE: Only boys in Grade 10 – 12 are eligible for this award.
  • Active membership
  • 90% attendance
  • Must score a minimum of 40 points based on the above criteria
  • In addition to the required points, dramatic ability must be of a high / Provincial standard.

Honours

  • NOTE: Only boys in Grade 11 and 12 are eligible for this award.
  • Active membership
  • 90% attendance
  • MUST be of a National standard and must score a minimum of 50 points based on theabove criteria
  • MUST have received specially recognised awards in performances.
  • In addition to the required points, dramatic ability must be of a high standard.
