Squash

Squash is an extremely popular team sport as well as social pastime among Queenians. We have two squash courts on the campus which are well utilized by junior and senior school pupils. Squash is offered as both a summer and winter sport with most competitive players taking it as an additional or second sport, especially during the winter season.

We have two competitive teams - a junior (U16) team and our first team. While we could field more teams in each of these age groups, unfortunately most of our traditional rivals on the Border do not have the same depth of players and are unable to provide teams for us to participate against. We try to include a squash match in each of our derby day fixtures but most of our competitive squash, especially at first team level, is played in tournaments around the country during the course of the year.

During the first term we compete in the St Andrew's Invitation Squash Tournament organised by St Andrew's in Bloemfontein. We also participate in the Dave Hodgson Festival organized annually by St Andrew's College, Grahamstown.  We have, on many occasions in the past, also represented Border Schools at the prestigious Top Schools Tournament held annually in Pietermaritzberg.

Many of our players also participate in the Border closed tournaments held in East London, which also serve as trials for Border inter-provincial teams. Our boys regularly represent Border in all age groups at the inter-provincial tournaments held during the July school holidays.
